Balancing Acts: A Unique Class in Jewish Values & Circus Arts
What do juggling and Jewish ethics have in common? More than you might think! In our Musar & Juggling class, kids will explore essential Jewish values (middot) while learning the playful and skillful art of juggling. This interactive experience is designed to help students develop patience, perseverance, balance, and kindness—both in their juggling practice and in their everyday lives.
What We Cover
Each session blends hands-on juggling exercises with deep yet accessible discussions on Musar, the Jewish tradition of ethical self-improvement. Kids will engage with traits like:
Savlanut (Patience): Learning to keep going even when juggling (or life) gets tough.
Shtadlanut (Perseverance): Picking up the ball and trying again after a drop.
Anavah (Humility): Celebrating growth without showing off.
Ometz Lev (Courage): Juggling in front of others and facing challenges with confidence.
Seder (Order & Balance): Discovering the importance of rhythm and structure, in juggling and in life.
Through games, group activities, and personal challenges, students will connect these values to real-life situations, gaining insights into how to practice them beyond the classroom.
The Philosophy: Learning Through Play
At the heart of this class is the belief that play is a powerful tool for learning and self-discovery. Just as Jewish tradition encourages us to reflect on and refine our character, juggling teaches that mistakes are part of growth. Every drop is a lesson, every challenge an opportunity, and every success a moment of joy.
What Kids Will Get Out of It
A Fun & Engaging Experience: Juggling is an exciting, hands-on activity that keeps kids moving and thinking.
Personal Growth & Confidence: As students improve their juggling skills, they also build patience, resilience, and focus.
A Connection to Jewish Values: The lessons extend beyond the classroom, encouraging kids to apply Musar teachings to their daily lives.
A New Skill to Share: By the end of the course, students will have both a foundation in juggling and a deeper appreciation of Jewish ethics.
Whether your child is brand new to juggling or already has experience, this class is a joyful way to develop essential life skills, explore Jewish wisdom, and, most importantly, have fun!
